I built Klaavi
because I needed it myself.

I’ve had muscular dystrophy since I was a child.

Typing on a screen has always cost me a lot of effort. The keyboard kept covering the very thing I was looking at. I had to move it, click it away, set it up again. A small thing, in theory. Do it hundreds of times a day and it stops being small.

After leaving the Ministry I started a company. New work, more screen time, a great deal of writing. I thought it would finish me off. So instead of complaining, together with Maciek, who wrote the whole application, we built a keyboard that uses AI. I use Klaavi every day. And I’ve stopped moving the keyboard around.

Everything you write stays on your computer and nowhere else. The AI prediction engine runs locally: no data in the cloud, no text sent anywhere. Your statistics are local too. The only thing that reaches our server is license activation and renewal, never the content of what you write.
Yes, completely. AI prediction, suggestions and the Phrase Panel all work without an internet connection. A connection is only needed to activate and renew the subscription.
No. Your files stay on the computer, so after reinstalling Klaavi still remembers the way you write and your settings. In the PRO version you can also export and import manually, for example when moving everything to another computer.
Yes. Klaavi is signed with a Certum OV certificate and has been submitted to antivirus vendors, so these messages shouldn’t appear. If your software does warn you during installation, click "More info" and then "Run anyway". You can also add Klaavi to the exceptions in your antivirus settings. Never turn your protection off, and if anything looks off, write to us.
Yes, and there’s no penalty. After you cancel, PRO runs until the end of the period you paid for and then moves to FREE. No hidden charges and no automatic renewal without your consent.
The FREE version runs on one device, with no time limit and no restrictions on use. Klaavi PRO runs on 2 devices tied to a single license. The account exists only to confirm the license and nothing you write passes through it. Your text, your suggestions and your style stay local, on each computer separately. Changing computers? Yes. Klaavi works with eye trackers through standard cursor emulation, so once the device is running in Windows it usually needs no extra configuration. It pairs well with autoclick and Ghost Mode. It also works with the NVDA and JAWS screen readers. If you have a particular device, a Tobii Eye Tracker 5 for example, write to us and we’ll gladly help with the settings.
Yes. Klaavi doesn’t block the physical keyboard, so you can freely combine both ways of typing and shift the balance during the day. For many people this is the most comfortable arrangement: the physical keyboard while the hands allow it, Klaavi when they start to hurt.
English and Polish today, with the keyboard layout and the suggestions in both. More European languages are in preparation. You download language packs during installation, or later in settings.
Yes. For organizations, nonprofits, schools and employers we prepare seat licenses, a quotation, a pro forma invoice and payment by bank transfer. Assistive software is often covered by public funding, from Access to Work in the United Kingdom to state vocational rehabilitation agencies in the United States, and the rules depend on the individual program.
