Cookie Policy
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files saved by your web browser on your device when you visit a website. They are used to recognise you on subsequent visits, remember your preferences and collect analytics data about how the site is used.
This policy applies exclusively to the klaavi.app website. The Klaavi desktop application (the Windows installer) does not use cookies. Typing content, prediction personalisation and local typing statistics remain on your device; narrowly scoped technical service and product events are described in the Privacy Policy.
2. What cookies we use
The most important point: what you type in Klaavi never leaves your device. The prediction engine runs entirely on your computer, and the content of your typing, your patterns and your phrases are never sent anywhere. This rule has no exceptions. The application connects to the internet for three purposes only: licence verification, account settings synchronisation (if you enable it) and anonymous usage statistics, with no typing content and no user identification. You can turn statistics off with a single switch in the application settings.
This website is a different matter. Like any marketing website, it uses advertising cookies from Meta and Google, but only if you consent to them. Declining restricts nothing: not access to content, not the mailing list signup, not the application download.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with data brokers. We use these tools to reach the people who need Klaavi, and for nothing else.

3. Details of individual tools
Cloudflare
Cloudflare provides the network infrastructure for klaavi.app (CDN, DDoS protection, SSL). Cloudflare cookies (including __cf_bm and cf_clearance) are necessary for the secure operation of the site and do not require your consent. They are not used for advertising or cross-site tracking. More information: cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Plausible Analytics
Plausible is a privacy-friendly analytics tool that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. The data is fully anonymous and cannot be used to identify any individual user. The use of Plausible does not require consent under the GDPR or the ePrivacy Directive. More information: plausible.io/privacy.
Google Analytics 4
GA4 collects pseudonymised data about user behaviour on the site: pages visited, time spent on the site, traffic sources and events (for example clicks on CTA buttons). GA4 uses cookies (ga, _ga*) linked to a pseudonymised device identifier. This data is not anonymous within the meaning of the GDPR and requires consent. Klaavi configures GA4 without advertising personalisation. The data is not shared with Google for advertising purposes. The use of GA4 requires your consent, which you can give or refuse via the cookie banner on the site.
You can opt out of GA4 tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).
Meta Pixel (Facebook, Instagram)
The Meta Pixel is a piece of code that records a visit to klaavi.app and passes it to Meta Platforms Ireland Limited. It allows us to measure how many people reached the site from our ads and posts, and to create audiences to whom we can show Klaavi advertising.
The pixel stores the _fbp and _fbc cookies, linked to a pseudonymised identifier. Meta may combine this data with your Facebook or Instagram account, if you have one.
The pixel is inactive by default. Until you give consent, it sends no data to Meta. Technically, this is implemented with the fbq('consent', 'revoke') command executed before the pixel is initialised.
Meta also processes this data for its own purposes as an independent controller. Details: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
Google Ads
The Google Ads tag measures conversions from ads in Google search, allowing us to determine whether a person who clicked a Klaavi ad signed up to the list or downloaded the application. It stores the _gcl_au cookie.
We use Google Consent Mode v2: until you give consent, the ad_storage, ad_user_data, ad_personalization and analytics_storage parameters are set to denied, and the tag stores no cookies and transmits no data.
Details: policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
Brevo
If the mailing list signup form operated by Brevo is active on klaavi.app, it may use cookies for functional purposes (remembering that you have already signed up). Brevo cookies are activated only after you interact with the form. More information: brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.
4. Managing consent and settings
On your first visit to klaavi.app, a cookie banner is displayed allowing you to give or refuse consent to analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4) and advertising cookies (Meta Pixel, Google Ads). Until consent is given, none of these tools is activated and no cookies are stored by them.
The banner contains two equivalent buttons: "Accept" and "Necessary only". Declining is as easy as accepting and does not restrict access to any part of the site or to the application download.
Your choice is remembered and can be changed at any time by clicking "Cookie settings" in the site footer.
Cloudflare cookies (technically necessary) and Plausible (cookieless) operate independently of the banner, because they do not require consent.
Regardless of the banner, you can manage cookies directly in your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy & Security > Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions
- Safari: Settings > Safari > Privacy
Blocking all cookies may affect some site features, but will not restrict access to content or the ability to download the Klaavi application.
5. The Klaavi desktop application
The Klaavi application (the .exe installer for Windows) does not use cookies. All application data, including prediction personalisation, the Phrase Panel and local typing statistics, is stored exclusively locally on your device and is not transmitted to external servers.
The application connects to the internet solely for licence verification, account settings synchronisation (if you enable it) and the sending of anonymous usage statistics. These connections do not use cookies. You can turn off the sending of statistics in the application settings.
The Klaavi application does not and never will contain the Meta Pixel, Google tags or any advertising tools. The advertising tools described in this policy apply exclusively to the klaavi.app website. Anonymous application statistics events (with no typing content and no user identification) are processed on servers in the European Union. Details: the Klaavi Privacy Policy (klaavi.app/privacy-policy).
6. Changes to this cookie policy
We reserve the right to update this policy if the tools we use or the applicable law change. We will announce material changes with a notice on the site or by email (if you are a user with an active account). The date of the last update appears at the top of this document.
